A giant python caused a scare among residents in Maharashtra’s Thane after it was spotted coiled up in a tree. The rescue of the reptile in the Tulsidham area of Vasant Vihar, Thane, emerged on social media on Tuesday.
The viral video captures the python hanging from a thick branch of the tree as a crowd watches rescuers at work. A member of the fire brigade team is seen climbing a ladder, and then another rescuer brings the snake down amid loud cheers and claps.
“The fire brigade, along with the army, quickly intervened to ensure the safety of both the public and the snake,” jist.news posted on Instagram.

Many users flocked to the comments section to react to the video. “That’s snake’s habitat, most python live in trees. Calling it a rescue!!!” a user wrote. Some users slammed the people for crowding the area during the rescue operation. “Unemployment at its peak,” a user commented. “Some people can be heard clapping and whistling. It ain’t a TV programme,” another user reacted.
Earlier this month, a 17-foot Burmese python weighing nearly 100 kg was rescued near the girls’ hostel at Assam University in Silchar. According to reports, the viral clip that came to light on December 23 showed several people, including 12 to 13 members of the Barak Valley Wildlife Division, capturing the Burmese python.
