As Delhi recorded a sudden downpour on Wednesday evening, the Old Rajinder Nagar area, where three UPSC aspirants lost their lives due to flooding in a basement, is waterlogged again. However, the students continued to protest in the knee-deep water, videos of which are now doing rounds and started chatter on social media.
Shared by internet personality Prerna Bhardwaj, the videos show a flood-like situation in the area. Drenched in the heavy rain, students can be seen standing in the thigh-high water. In one of the videos, students can be seen raising ‘we want justice’ slogans.
“This is Rajinder Nagar right now after 40 minutes of continuous rain. The truth is in front of everyone’s eyes. I being an aspirant who’ve studied in the basement of a premium coaching institute, lived here in ORN and left it due to similar issues can give this in written that the situation hasn’t changed a bit. This corrupt ecosystem of MCD, Delhi Govt, Coaching Mafias and Administration, has murdered bright aspirants over the years. It’s time to fight back!” Bhardwaj wrote.

On July 27, three UPSC aspirants lost their lives after they got trapped in the basement of a coaching centre in Old Rajinder Nagar which was flooded due to a drain burst.
According to students present at the spot on Saturday night, the basement housed the library of the coaching centre, where students would go for self-study. According to eyewitnesses, the basement filled with 10-12 feet of water in almost no time, giving students no chance to escape.
Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a ‘red’ alert amid severe waterlogging in several parts of the national capital. At least 10 flights heading towards Delhi Airport were diverted Wednesday evening due to bad weather.
