‘Blueberry samosa’, a sweet twist to the spicy tangy samosa, has sparked debate on social media with the traditional samosa lovers questioning the rationale of introducing sweetness to ‘triangular’ spicy Indian snack.
The video shared by @youthbitz shows the deep-fried triangular pastry, crispy and golden, filled not with the traditional potato concoction, but a succulent blend of blueberry paste and sugar. And the samosa is blue too!

The influencer in the video is seen to have a disapproving look after that first bite.
One person commented, “Please tell them Samosa is love, don’t ruin it,” while another said, “Don’t ever dare to call it samosa.”
On the other hand, some culinary rebels are not against the idea of trying out new flavours in samosa. “You might have not liked it but people who have a sweet tooth can try it also do try their Pizza Samosas, they are reallyyy good😍 you’ll love it for sure?” a user commented on Instagram.
Weird food trends are still a rage in 2024. Check out Vicky Tea Stall in Amritsar for the famous Amul butter chai. It is a steaming cup of tea, loaded with Amul butter, and jazzed up with dry fruits and rose petals. Then there is the buzz-worthy gulab jamun pav from Kasauli – a soft pav, sliced open, smeared generously with butter, and crammed with juicy gulab jamuns.
And let’s not forget the sweet masterpiece from Surat—waffle bhel by slicing waffles, just like the classic bhel or papri chaat style. These waffle chunks get a double dose of chocolate syrup, sprinkles, a scoop of vanilla ice cream, and a sprinkle of chocolate chips on top.
