India celebrated its 78th Independence Day on August 15. Amid several celebratory videos on social media, a clip of a bird seemingly unfurling the national flag that got stuck during the flag hoisting in Kerala took the internet by storm.

The viral clip, shared by an X user Shilpa, shows a group of people hoisting the flag during the I-day celebrations. However, the flag gets stuck as it reaches the top. The video then captures a bird that appears to fly from nowhere and unfurl the flag, which dropped flower petals.

“Kerala – National Flag got stuck at the top while hoisting. A bird came from nowhere and unfurled it!!” the user wrote on X.

“That sounds like a beautiful and symbolic moment! Nature stepping in to help during such a significant event must have felt magical. It’s moments like these that make ceremonies even more memorable,” a third user reacted.

Soon after the video caught the internet’s attention, gaining plaudits from social media users, journalist Mohammed Zubair clarified that it was not the bird unfurling the tricolour, but rather a camera angle that created this illusion.
