A Bengaluru woman has accused a Rapido bike taxi driver of sexually harassing her during a ride in the city’s central area on Thursday evening. The incident, which took place on November 6, came to public attention after she recounted her experience on social media — a post that quickly prompted reactions from both Bengaluru Police and Rapido.

In her post, the woman said she had booked a Rapido ride to get back to her PG from Church Street when the driver allegedly tried to touch her inappropriately. “The captain tried to grab my legs while riding. It happened so suddenly that I couldn’t even process it, let alone record it,” she wrote. Too frightened to jump off midway as she didn’t know the area well, she said she held back tears until the ride ended.

At her destination, a passerby reportedly noticed her distress and stepped in to confront the driver, who first apologised and then allegedly made a threatening gesture before speeding off. “I’m sharing this because no woman should have to go through something like this — not in a cab, not on a bike, not anywhere,” she added, explaining that while it wasn’t the first time she’d faced something similar, this time she felt compelled to speak out.

Her comments section has since been disabled, but Bengaluru City Police responded directly to her post, asking for her location and contact details to pursue the case further, as per HT.com.

Rapido also addressed the matter publicly, saying, “We are concerned to learn about the captain’s inappropriate conduct during your recent ride. Your safety and comfort remain our top priorities. Kindly allow us some time to investigate the matter in detail.”

A few days later, the woman shared an update, thanking both the police and the company for their support. “Thank you everyone for your concern… Rapido team and even the police team have been helping me. I have been finally proven right because they checked the footage,” she wrote, expressing relief and gratitude to those who stood by her.
