A Reddit post by a Bengaluru resident, who recently discovered that his cook has his own cook and employs a house help for cleaning and doing the dishes, has the Internet buzzing.
The revelation came to light when the man asked his cook if he knew any house cleaners nearby. His cook said he did but mentioned the cleaner would charge Rs 3,000 for the job. Surprised, the man told him his previous help charged only Rs 2,000 since he lives in a small 2BHK apartment.
At that point, the cook casually mentioned that in his own 1BHK, his house help charges him Rs 2,000, and that his cook charges him Rs 2,500 per person. “I was shocked,” the man wrote in his post, “realising that I was bargaining over just Rs 1,000, while he was willingly paying more for a 1BHK.” He wrapped up his post with a wry nod to the city’s quirks, saying, “Just Bangalore things”.
