The boy suffered a severe head injuryA young boy in Bengaluru sustained serious head injury while standing through the sunroof of a moving car. The incident that occurred at Vidyaranyapura around 1 pm on Sunday was caught on video, sparking outrage and debate online.
The clip shows the child standing out of a red SUV’s sunroof as the car drives down a busy road. He appears to be enjoying himself until the vehicle passes under an overhead barrier, which strikes him hard on the head. Shocked, the boy ducks back inside the car as it continues moving forward. According to India Today, he suffered a severe head injury.
The video has been widely shared across platforms like X, with viewers expressing both concern and anger. Many blamed the adults in the car for negligence.

One user wrote, “Omg..horrible. Poor child. Hope the child is safe. Parents are fully responsible for this accident. Not sure why these sunroof features are provided in India. It needs to be banned.” Another remarked, “Very sad for the kid but somehow satisfying to see this. I hope those who consider it ok learn from this.”
Others were even harsher, with one saying, “Wonderful the parent has gifted the child a traumatic brain injury for life,” while another added, “I know I must not be feeling this way, but it is very satisfying to see the consequences of fooling around on roads from sunroofs.”
Police have since reminded parents that children should always remain seated and buckled up, stressing that sunroofs are not meant for standing and can easily lead to tragedy.
Several social media users slammed the inclusion of sunroofs in cars sold in India, arguing that the feature is impractical and serves little purpose given the country’s climate.
