The news went viral across social media.A motorbike thief in Bengaluru, identified as Ashok and locally known as Apple, was a fruit vendor who turned to stealing for quick cash. Alongside his accomplice Satish, Ashok was implicated in multiple two-wheeler thefts across the city.
According to an Instagram post, Ashok, a seasoned criminal with a rap sheet boasting 15 cases, was back to his old tricks just a month after he came out of jail in one case. A hapless software engineer in Giri Nagar was his next victim.
Ashok, however, was promptly caught with the stolen motorcycle, proving once again that some things never change.
During questioning by the police, according to the post, Ashok revealed an unexpected motive behind his crimes. He confessed that all the money he made from stealing motorbikes was used to fund the cancer treatment of his friend’s wife, a breast cancer survivor, it said.

This woman and her husband had given Ashok shelter after his own wife left him because of his criminal activities, the post added.
Ashok saw his actions as a way to repay their kindness, merging a tale of crime with one of heartfelt gratitude, embodying the essence of “peak Bengaluru”, a term that encapsulates the city’s unique flair for blending the extraordinary with the mundane. It is a badge of pride showcasing Bengaluru’s talent for turning quirky incidents into a delightful mix of humour and bewilderment.
