Bengaluru, India’s Silicon Valley, has now also become synonymous with traffic congestion on roads connecting major areas. However, a new viral video showing traffic on the runway at the Kempegowda International Airport has stunned the Internet, and the video has ignited a debate.
Shared by an X handle Karnataka Portfolio, the viral video shows several aircraft queued up at a distance, waiting for their turn to either take off or be parked. “Bengaluru is not only famous for its road traffic congestion, but today even the runway at Bengaluru Airport experienced a similar situation. A significant number of aircraft were seen queued up, waiting for their turn to take off, creating a rare ‘traffic jam’ in the airport runway. This unusual sight highlights the increasing air traffic and the bustling activity at Bengaluru Airport, reflecting the city’s rapid growth and its status as a major travel hub,” the caption read.

With over 53,000 views, the video garnered significant reactions. A user wrote, “It’s not a reflection of rapid growth of Bengaluru but a sign of unsustainable, unplanned growth of Karnataka concentrated in only one region.” Another user commented, “Once flying from Goa to Bangalore, the pilot announced in Goa that we are delayed due to Air traffic at Bangalore . That time I realised that Bangalore has got traffic everywhere.”
“Send a few autos and bikers to stand in between the gaps and overtake while sctaching these jets. They will not even get a chance to move forward,” a third user said.
