Indian Railways platform ticket sales: To manage the heavy passenger rush during the upcoming Diwali festival and Chhath Puja, Indian Railways has temporarily suspended the sale of platform tickets at 15 major stations.
The move is aimed at ensuring smooth passenger movement and safe boarding and deboarding at busy stations. The move is aimed at ensuring smooth passenger movement and safe boarding and deboarding at busy stations.
Suspension of platform ticket sales
The restriction on platform ticket sales will remain in effect until October 28, 2025. However, the platform tickets will, however, be issued to senior citizens, ailing passengers, children, and lady passengers who require assistance, as per Railway Board guidelines.

- Anand Vihar Terminal
- Ghaziabad
- Bandra Terminus
- Vapi
- Surat
- Udhna
- Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT)
- Dadar
- Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT)
- Thane
- Kalyan
- Panvel
Of these, the five stations: CSMT, Dadar, LTT, Thane, Kalyan and Panvel, the platform ticket sales will be restricted from October 16, 2025. The national transporter has also urged the passengers to plan their travel accordingly and cooperate with railway authorities to ensure a smooth and safe journey experience during the festive period.
