The Afghanistan cricket team won the hearts of fans at the ICC Men’s World Cup 2023 with their exceptional performances. While nobody considered them to be a contender for a semifinal spot, they created history by causing upsets over teams like England and Pakistan. In the end, Afghanistan finished with four wins out of nine to finish in the sixth place in the 10-team tournament, thus qualifying for the Champions Trophy 2025 which is scheduled to be held in Pakistan. Apart from their on-field heroics, Afghanistan also won fans with their gestures. Opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz was seen distributing money to the needy who were sleeping on roadsides in Ahmedabad after their last match against South Africa on November 10. Someone recorded his video and posted it on social media, which has been going viral. The man says that he saw Gurbaz near his home distributing currency notes to the poor who were sleeping on the roadside at 3 am. The 21-year-old got off his car to distribute the currency notes to the poor who were sleeping to bring them some cheer before the festival of Diwali. “Rahmanullah Gurbaz silently gave money to the needy people on the streets of Ahmedabad so they could celebrate Diwali. A beautiful gesture by Gurbaz,” says the caption of the video posted by Mufaddal Vohra on X.
