Former American television presenter Wendy Williams was taken to a hospital in an ambulance after she threw a handwritten note – asking for help – out of a window at her assisted living facility in New York. The authorities were subsequently called in to conduct a wellness check. The 60-year-old former host of The Wendy Williams Show has been under financial guardianship since 2022. Last year, her care team revealed that she was diagnosed with primary progressive aphasia and frontotemporal dementia, the Independent reported. Police and law enforcement, speaking to the New York Post, said the call was made around 11.15 am, shortly after Williams threw the note from her fifth-floor room. “Help! Wendy!!” the note read. According to TMZ, Williams was later taken to Lenox Hill Hospital, where she is undergoing an independent evaluation to assess whether her cognitive functions are stable enough to end her guardianship. Williams was later seen quietly leaving the facility, escorted by several police officers, who assisted her to the waiting ambulance. In the now-viral video, Williams can be seen standing next to the window, speaking on the phone, and waving to the camera. Click on the link to watch the video. The video amassed over four million views, with several social media users expressing concern for Williams. “Sad to see, but with her diagnosis, it may be the safest place for her,” a user wrote. “What is wrong with letting her out? She hasn't murdered anyone. She hasn't done anything wrong. She dropped a dime on Diddy, and I wonder if this is a payback,” another user commented. “Having dealt with it from a close family member, frontotemporal dementia is horrible. Very sad,” a third user reacted. The Wendy Williams Show aired from 2008 to 2021. She had stepped down from her role as host due to health concerns. The show was cancelled in 2022.
