In a newly surfaced video footage of the Donald Trump shooting incident, the sniper of the security services is seen detecting the suspected assailant just moments before he fired on the former US president. The video captures the sniper, positioned atop a structure, briefly looking upwards, seemingly noticing the suspect before the initial shot was fired. Immediately, the police sniper aimed towards the assailant, attempting to shoot at him. According to a statement from the Secret Service, the shooter fired multiple shots toward the stage from an elevated position outside the rally venue around 6:15 p.m. "US Secret Service personnel neutralised the shooter, who is now deceased," they confirmed. Trump's security As a former president and Republican presidential candidate, Trump's security is primarily overseen by the Secret Service, with assistance from local police in securing campaign venues. Occasionally, agents from other Department of Homeland Security agencies, such as the Transportation Security Administration, lend support. Following Saturday's incident, questions have surfaced about security measures at Trump's Pennsylvania rally. One individual interviewed by the BBC stated he had attempted to alert both local police and the US Secret Service to a possible sniper climbing onto a nearby roof outside the rally's security perimeter in Butler, but his warnings went unheeded. Before each event, agents conduct sweeps for bombs and other threats, and Trump typically arrives in a heavily guarded motorcade. Law enforcement sets up perimeter barriers and requires attendees to pass through metal detectors. Protective agents armed with weapons thoroughly screen bags and even wallets, while many attendees undergo physical pat-downs. According to a Reuters report, a local resident present at the Saturday event observed what appeared to be two Secret Service agents positioned on a nearby roof before Trump took the stage. The resident noted that the agents were using binoculars to survey the area. "They were consistently scanning the left side behind the event area before Trump appeared on stage. They appeared very focused on that specific area," the attendee remarked. Shortly after the shooting, the Secret Service said that an investigation was underway and they had briefed President Joe Biden. Additional requests for comment regarding their security protocols were not immediately addressed by the agency.
