Crocodiles are formidable predators, often growing up to 23-feet-long, 2,000-pound giants. With their powerful jaws, they can exert a bite force of 3,700 psi, which is roughly the pressure exerted by 1.5 tonnes of weight concentrated in a single bite. To give a better perspective, it’s nearly three times stronger than the bite force of a great white shark.

However, that didn’t deter a man from charging at a bask of crocodiles with a shovel, making the giants panic and leap into a water body, seemingly a pond.

The video was shared on X by user @tintinades on Thursday, and the post garnered over 4 million views. This post was quoted by user @TheFigen_ saying, “Are crocodiles afraid of shovels?” This post received more than 45 million views.

A couple of crocodiles defiantly stand their ground, trying to intimidate the man with their jaws wide open and baring razor-sharp teeth. But the man, undeterred, smacks the stubborn beasts on the head, making them retreat.

Reacting to the daredevil human being’s stunt and the user’s question, one X user said, “Apparently all things dislike being hit in the face with shovels.” Another user said, “These captive crocodiles are used to being trained with shovels, so when they see shovels they are afraid to jump into the water, but wild crocodiles are probably not afraid of shovels.”

Regardless of how these crocodiles reacted to the shovel, we strongly advise against attempting such stunts. Just in case you were contemplating.
