Indian cricketer Virat Kohli enjoys a worldwide following. A computer-generated image (CGI) video of a life-size statue of Kohli at New York’s Times Square has caught the Internet’s attention, triggering a frenzy among cricket enthusiasts.

The viral clip shows Kohli’s giant statue in gold, with cricket pads on his knees, he is seen standing tall with a bat in his hand. Sharing the video on X, Duroflex, a popular mattress brand, wrote, “A larger-than-life statue of Virat Kohli at the iconic Times Square. This King’s Duty, we are going global and making history! We’re delivering great sleep and great health to Virat Kohli.”

Shared on June 23, the CGI video amassed several reactions as Kohli’s fans flocked to the comment section. Reacting to it, a user wrote, “King Kohli-Global Sportstar.” Another user commented, “God of cricket.”

“Huge respect for virat and his achievements for India. But reality is India has not won any ICC tournament since a decade,” a third user reacted. “Is it for real or just computerized?” another user wrote.

On Monday, India beat Australia by 24 runs in their last Super-8 game to set up their semi-final against England in the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2024. Indian skipper Rohit Sharma’s 92 runs in just 42 balls helped India score 205/5 against Australia at the Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium, Gros Islet in St Lucia.
