Late Saturday, Indian streets lit up like it was Diwali as the Indian cricket team lifted the T20 World Cup after 17 years. India defeated South Africa by seven runs, leaving millions of Indians and cricket fans worldwide emotional. Social media platforms were flooded with celebratory videos soon after the win.

In a video shared by ANI, several cricket enthusiasts in Mumbai can be seen chanting “India! India!” and dancing on the streets. “India lifts second T20 World Cup trophy, beat South Africa by 7 runs. Fans of the Indian cricket team in Mumbai cheer and celebrate,” ANI wrote.

Another video, this one from Hyderabad, shows over a thousand fans gathered to celebrate the win. The video captures fans cheering and bursting crackers to celebrate the win.

“Crazy celebrations in Hyderabad on India’s world cup win,” an X user Mafaddal Vohra wrote.

A bunch of Indians celebrated the win 40,000 feet in the air on a flight en route to London. The viral video shows three men and a young girl watching the final over. As India won, cheers spread on the flight.

In another video, fans can be seen dancing to bhangra beats at the Mumbai airport. Shared by ANI, the video shows two dholis playing dhol while fans dance to the beats. A man can be seen distributing sweets to passengers. “Sweets were distributed to passengers at the Mumbai airport after India’s victory in the T20 World Cup 2024,” ANI wrote.

 

A video shows thousands of fans cheering for Team India, dancing to bhangra beats and flaunting the tricolour near India Gate in New Delhi.

India lifted the second T20 World Cup at Barbados’ Kensington Oval after a gap of 17 years in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 final against South Africa. India gave a target of 177 runs and won by seven runs. South Africa could only score 169/8 in 20 overs against India.
