A Jane’s Addiction concert in Boston ended abruptly after frontman Perry Farrell punched the guitarist Dave Navarro after a heated exchange during the performance. The viral video shows Farell slamming his body forcefully towards Navarro on stage. In retaliation, Navarro put his hands on Farrell’s chest in an attempt to stop him from hurting him. The video also captures Farrell yelling at the guitarist, following which the security guards intervened and stopped the artistes from attacking each other. After the video caught the internet’s attention, Farrell’s wife Etty Lau addressed the altercation on her Instagram handle. Sharing the video of the incident, Lau revealed that there had been “animosity” between the members. Defending her husband, Lau said Farrell had been protesting against the “extremely loud” stage volume that suppressed his voice. “Perry’s frustration had been mounting, night after night, he felt that the stage volume had been extremely loud and his voice was being drowned out by the band. Perry had been suffering from tinnitus and a sore throat every night. But when the audience in the first row, started complaining up to Perry cussing at him that the band was planning too loud and that they couldn’t hear him, Perry lost it,” she wrote. “The band started the song Ocean before Perry was ready and did the count off.. The stage volume was so loud at that point, that Perry couldn’t hear pass the boom and the vibration of the instruments and by the end of the song, he wasn’t singing, he was screaming just be to be heard,” Lau wrote in the post. “Dave still looked handsome and cool in the middle of a fight. Perry was a crazed beast for the next half an hour – he finally did not calm down, but did breakdown and cried and cried,” she wrote.
