Denis Villeneuve’s Dune: Part Two is the most-talked-about science-fiction film among cinema aficionados. Starring Zendaya and Timothee Chalamet, the film hit the silver screen on March 1. While fans got to watch the movie on its release day, one film buff could see it well ahead of its release.

According to Global News, a middle-aged man, admitted to end-of-life care in the region of Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean in northern Quebec, wished to watch Dune: Part Two before he died. Speaking to reporters, a care worker at the hospital said, “I thought to myself, what can we do? Then my husband reminded me that I could make anything happen. So I posted on social media and we were in contact with Villeneuve’s team within 12 hours”.

The post went viral and caught the attention of filmmaker Sebastien Pilote, who helped the care worker get in touch with the film’s producer. The makers of Dune: Part Two then arranged to fly out Denis Villeneuve’s assistant who carried the director’s laptop to the hospital.

The assistant asked everyone at the hospital to sign non-disclosure contracts and also asked the dying patient to choose one person to watch Dune: Part Two with. The patient chose one of the centre’s caregivers. However, the man couldn’t watch the 2 hours and 46 minutes movie as he was in pain, and passed away a few days later.

Dune: Part Two is the sequel to Dune: Part One, which was released in 2021. The films are based on a 1965 epic sci-fi novel by American author Frank Herbert.
