Emirates, the UAE’s flagship airline and the biggest in the Middle East, has long been associated with luxury, whether it’s private first-class cabins, fine dining in the sky, or indulgent amenities. But it’s not just passengers who enjoy these perks. Employees, too, benefit from tax-free salaries, discounted flights, and rewards for years of service.
One such reward has now become the subject of viral attention. A video making the rounds online shows an Emirates staff member unwrapping his gift for completing 20 years with the airline: an Omega Constellation wristwatch, presented in an oversized orange gift bag.
The clip captures the employee smiling as he opens the box, and proudly holds up the watch. It quickly spread across Instagram, amassing millions of views and sparking a lively debate.

Some applauded the gesture, calling it meaningful regardless of the brand or price tag. “Simple gesture … but it’s valuable … beyond materialistic things,” one user wrote. Another chimed in, “A Good Gesture!!!! What matters is the thought not the price.” A third echoed the sentiment: “People crying over what was gift but the point is the respect that he was thought of. Many people work, retire and pass away without any word or getting notice. Stop whining.”
Still, not everyone felt the same way. Some argued the gift should have been more extravagant.
