Amid the ongoing US-China trade war, sparked by Donald Trump’s push for companies to shift manufacturing back to America, Chinese manufacturers are now selling items from luxury brands at an extremely low price. Several viral videos flooded X on Monday, showing the premium materials, expert craftsmanship, and precise production processes involved in creating these items. Many of these sellers are even offering free global shipping, setting the Internet abuzz. These manufacturers revealed their behind-the-scenes role in producing goods for world-renowned luxury brands, including Birkin, Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Estée Lauder, and Bobbi Brown. These suppliers are now offering consumers direct access to these high-quality products for as little as one-tenth of the retail price or even less. Watch videos here: My fyp is suddenly filled with Chinese manufacturers trying to sell directly to Americans. The gag is that even with paying the import tariff and shipping, it's still way cheaper than buying the same products through American corporations. We are not winning this trade war lmao. pic.twitter.com/bDbFt7uDFr — abby (@abby4thepeople) April 13, 2025 China is definitely having their moment… The tea is steaming hot 🥵 pic.twitter.com/5OAYHeo5NG — Meidas_Charise Lee (@charise_lee) April 12, 2025 Not China yang tetiber spill the tea luxury brand mana yang buat dekat kilang diorang. Yang dupe kau beli tu actually ori 😂 pic.twitter.com/nxIFtppB0f — Januar Haikal (@Januarhaikal) April 13, 2025 The videos triggered a chatter on X over US tariffs, including the highest on China. “They're manufacturers tho, they might not accept small-scale orders," a user wrote. "Ironically if the prices go up due to tariffs the direct sales may be the only affordable Chinese goods lol," another user commented. "If Chinese manufacturers can sell luxury brand products like Birkenstock clogs for $10 on TikTok, why are American consumers still paying $165 plus tax at retail stores?" a third user asked. This comes amid the latest trade tensions with the US imposing tariffs on Chinese goods as high as 145 per cent, and China responding with retaliatory duties of up to 125 per cent. On Sunday, China’s Ministry of Commerce called on the US to fully eliminate its retaliatory tariffs, following Trump’s announcement that smartphones, laptops, and other consumer electronics would be exempted from the duties. "We urge the US to take a big step to correct its mistakes, completely cancel the wrong practice of 'reciprocal tariffs' and return to the right path of mutual respect,” AFP quoted a Chinese ministry spokesperson as saying.
