Robots for food delivery are an emerging trend among hotels and restaurants. A video of an Aussie travel vlogger, Josie, getting her food delivered by a robot at a China hotel has ignited chatter on social media.
The viral reel video shows Josie anticipating her food delivery. She receives a call in her hotel room before the robot’s arrival. Further, she notices a waist-length robot sliding through the hallway with its two headlights on.
Josie shuts the door to check if the robot rings the bell. However, she receives a call informing her that the food is at her doorstep. The robot slides its head to reveal a compartment so she can take out her food and leave.
Sharing the video on Instagram, Josie wrote, “This is how you get your food delivered in China. Would you prefer this? Or do you want people?”

A similar video emerged on social media in March. The video showed a robot arriving for room service in a hotel in Shanghai.
