Bengaluru, among many things, is known for its high rents and bizarre demands of brokers and landlords. Now a post that shows how an apartment owner increased the rent of a 2BHK flat in Indiranagar by Rs 10,000 in just a few hours is getting much flak online.
On Sunday, an X user @nkalra0123 shared screenshots of an ‘available for rent’ post made by another X user @Bharath_MG. The screenshot showed how @Bharath_MG updated the rent of his property from Rs 45,000 to Rs 55,000, reportedly after his post got more demand than he had anticipated.

In the comments, many people noted how property prices are becoming unaffordable in Bengaluru as renters are exploiting the market demand to extreme ends.
Making this point, an X user wrote, “This is the story of opportunism & lack of morals in the modern world that will unfortunately be glorified as demand-supply / business sense or as someone taught me about more fishes in the pond and will be celebrated!”. Another person wrote, “i think it’s time we start mao zedonging landlords”.
Interestingly many people took this post as an opportunity to create new memes where people started posting “available for rent” posts showing fictional houses, as an attempt to mock landlords.

As of now, it appears that the original ‘available for rent’ post made by @Bharath_MG has been deleted. However, in an update, @Bharath_MG wrote that he will “try to get to all the DMs (500+) and schedule flat inspection after Sept 15th”.
