Delhi girl, Prerna Pratham Singh, had on May 17 uploaded a screenshot of her response to a Facebook message from a certain Raushan Kumar who asked her offensive questions. She publicly humiliated him with her response on Facebook and threatened legal action.
Within hours after Prerna posted this on her Timeline, a post came from the accused Raushan Kumar, claiming that his profile had been hacked and misused to send offensive messages.
Prerna’s post invited huge support from Facebook users resulting in more than three thousand shares and over twenty-one thousand likes within 24 hours. However, the post was on Monday deleted by Facebook.
Prerna also posted on Facebook saying that an FIR has been filed in the case at the Economic Offences Wing of Delhi Police, Mandir Marg complex.
She wrote another post saying that the matter was not a personal one, but “about challenging what has been going wrong.”
She wrote, “Do not personalize the matter. The moment we start to focus on a name rather than the issue, the real problem arises…However, meanwhile that happens, let us simply remember all those times when we, as a collective conscientious species, have felt humiliated, disgusted or insulted by such gestures of immodest kind. Please stand up against any kind of abuse, virtual or real. There are voices out there which need our representation. Let this be an opportunity to perpetrate a culture of improved behaviour which seeps down to the lowest levels of social interaction.” View her full post here.
