You can now get a new Jio eSIM and activate it yourself on your smartphone or tablet for free

Using Jio’s latest “iActivate” service, users can get a new Jio SIM card via the My Jio app. The process of iActivate involves users uploading a live photo/video along with supporting documents to activate a new SIM card using a process called self-KYC.

To iActivate your Jio SIM card, you need details like an alternative phone number, email ID, IMEI, and the EID of the smartphone, which will be unique to each device.

This new process makes buying and owning a new Jio SIM a lot easier, especially in places where there aren’t many stores to buy and activate a new SIM card. Do note that, when you get a new “iActivated” eSIM, Jio will automatically assign a random phone number, but when you order for home delivery, you can choose your preferred phone number from the available options.

In the last few years, the number of smartphones that offer eSIM support has gone up, and Jio’s latest initiative makes it easy for anyone to buy a new SIM. This also applies to iPads with cellular connectivity and select Samsung Galaxy S series tablets.
