When it comes to fitness metrics measurements, most sports icons swear by one brand – Whoop. A smart fitness tracker that is minimalistic, light, and offers accurate fitness insights. Up until now, getting a Whoop band in India was a hassle, but that is no longer the case, courtesy Flipkart.

Priced at Rs 29,990, it’s as expensive as smartwatches from Samsung and Apple. However, the Whoop band is a lot more than what meets the eye, and here are five reasons why you should consider the product over a smartwatch in 2024.

1. A device with a lifetime warranty

Any smartwatch or smart band comes with a standard 12-month warranty, and some of these can be expanded for two more years, that’s it. Whereas, the Whoop band comes with a lifetime warranty, which is a rare thing to see in the consumer electronics segment. This simply means there is no need to worry about hardware faults, as the company will replace it for free. Do note that this only covers manufacturing defects and hardware faults, and not physical damage or regular wear and tear.

2. Continuous and accurate fitness monitoring

Whoop band continuously monitors fitness vitals, which includes heart rate monitoring, skin temperature, blood oxygen levels, daily activity, and sleep, ensuring it has all the data required to offer valuable insights. When compared to most smartwatches, this offers more accurate data. On a single charge, the Whoop band can last up to five days, more than most premium smartwatches.

This is designed for those who value accurate fitness data and insights. According to the company, Whoop band 4.0 offers 99 per cent heart rate and HRV tracking accuracy and gold-standard sleep tracking.

3. Comfortable to wear with discreet looks

Some people just don’t like wearing a smartwatch, despite their benefits, as they are big and bulky, and this is where the Whoop band has its benefits. With its thin and light design and compact form factor, it just feels like wearing a thin band around the wrist. For users who like to accessorize, Whoop band is also available in multiple colour options, with an easy-to-adjust strap. As it does not have a screen, it doesn’t distract you while doing a physical activity.

The band also gets monthly feature updates to further enhance the functionality of the Whoop band. On top of that, it is also IP68 rated, making it a waterproof fitness band.

4. Whoop is more than a wristband

Whoop band is mostly worn on the wrist, but it is not the only way to wear it. In fact, it can be worn on top of swimsuits, boxers, and compression tops, and Whoop also makes these compatible apparel, ensuring the Whoop Band remains completely invisible, especially for athletes.

5. Comes with a complimentary 12-month subscription

The Whoop band includes a free 12-month subscription, which unlocks all the features of the fitness band. From the second year, one needs to pay Rs 23,900 per year to continue using the Whoop band. Without the subscription, the Whoop band stops working, and it doesn’t even offer basic features such as heart rate and sleep monitoring. For some, this could be the reason not to buy a Whoop band over a smartwatch or a smart ring.
