Xiaomi is gearing up to launch the Xiaomi 17 series in China, with leaks suggesting a debut during the final week of September, likely on September 30. The expected lineup for the series includes Xiaomi 17, Xiaomi 17 Pro, and Xiaomi 17 Pro Max versions. The latest models are rumoured to be equipped with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor. The smartphones might include Leica-styled rear cameras.
The Xiaomi 17 series will replace last year’s Xiaomi 15 range, omitting the number “16”. The collection is expected to feature Leica-branded cameras, an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint sensor, and HyperOS 3 based on Android 16.
According to previous leaks, the Xiaomi 17 Pro is expected to feature a 6.3-inch LTPO screen with a 120Hz refresh rate and bezels measuring just 1.1mm. It might include a 6,300mAh battery with capability for 100W wired charging. It is expected to include a triple rear camera setup comprising a 50-megapixel main camera, a 50-megapixel telephoto camera offering up to 5x optical zoom, and a 50-megapixel ultrawide camera. It might feature a construction with an IP69 rating.
The brand recently presented the ‘Magic Back Screen’ feature of the Xiaomi 17 Pro models. This function acts as an additional display and is embedded within the rear camera assembly. It displays call alerts and operates widgets such as music control and a timer.
