Spotify, the most popular music-streaming platform in the world, has taken a strong stance on piracy and has banned all modified apps. According to a Reddit post, Spotify has made API-level changes, which ensure the service will only work on the genuine app. This strike comes just a few days ahead of Spotify Wrapped 2024, where the music-streaming service offers an annual report of users’ music listening patterns and includes details like most listened-to songs, favourite artists, albums, and more.

Modified Spotify app users are now getting error messages like “This playlist is empty; go home to find the playlist just for you,” and are not able to access music.

Mod Spotify users are not only likely to miss out on the Wrapped 2024 report, there is also a possibility that Spotify might permanently ban such accounts.
