Dubbed “Project Leonardo,” the controller featured a circular form factor with a built-in customizable gamepad, tailor-made for gamers with disabilities. Sony has now confirmed that the $90-priced PS5 accessibility controller will finally go on sale in December.
The PS5 accessibility controller is designed in such a way that it can be used in any orientation. In total, the controller has 19 different-sized button caps and 23 icons that mimic traditional gaming controller inputs like L1/L2 and R1/R2. Similarly, it is also slightly cheaper than Microsoft’s Xbox adaptive controller, which was launched back in 2018 for $100.
Besides, the controller also has four 3.5mm jacks, which allow users to pair additional expansion buttons. It also supports up to 30 control profiles, allowing users to configure stick settings, toggle commands, and even allows users to completely disable select buttons to prevent accidental input.
The controller also has a tune-sensitive stick, which is also customizable. The controller is powered by a USB Type-C port, surrounded by four 3.5mm jacks, which can accommodate various trigger switches and compatible accessories.
The Access controller for PS5 will be available for pre-order in select markets starting July 21, and the controller will be available across the world starting December 6. As of now, there is no information on the launch of this controller in India.
