Samsung and OpenAI are reportedly working together to bring ChatGPT to the South Korean tech giant's smartTV lineup. While Samsung smart TVs already have a bunch of AI features, its partnership with OpenAI may help the brand retain its number one position in the TV segment, which it has held for the last 19 years. The news comes from a Korean publication, which suggests that the strategic partnership between the two could help Samsung develop an advanced AI-powered TV, which will offer more personalised content recommendations. While nothing is official at the moment, the report suggests that ChatGPT could help Samsung provide real-time translation of audio and subtitles and even let users ask for personalised healthcare advice. Apart from controlling TV settings, users may be able to ask OpenAI's chatbot to record a program or find something on a streaming service. To give you a quick recap, Samsung's TizenOS-based TVs already offer a bunch of AI features like AI upscaling, AI Sound and the recently introduced AI Vision, which can do live translation and 'see' what dish is on the screen, find the recipe and share a link to the Samsung food app. With Google all set to integrate its AI chatbot - Gemini into Google TV OS at the end of 2025, Samsung's partnership with OpenAI may help TizenOS keep up with the tech giant. However, it looks like the two companies are still working on the finer details, and since nothing is certain at the moment, we recommend you take this information with a grain of salt since things may change down the line.
