OnePlus started its journey as a smartphone brand. The company has been venturing into other consumer electronics segments. The brand now has smart TVs, wireless earphones, and it even makes smartwatches and mechanical keyboards. Today, OnePlus has officially announced that it is also venturing into the AR smart glass segment via a OnePlus community post.
According to the company, this is yet another user-driven project where the company has collaborated with its community to create its first AR (augmented reality) glasses. The company shortlisted five designs from the community and shortlisted one from Concept Central that got the highest votes.
As of now, the brand has not shared any technical details of the OnePlus AR glasses. However, looking at the renders and prototypes, the first pair of AR glasses from OnePlus will have a very distinctive look compared to the competition, and it is also expected to offer technologies like a built-in camera, adjustable temple tips, and more.
The OnePlus AR glasses will come with the tagline “the entrance between physical and digital worlds.” As of now, there is no information on when these glasses will be showcased to the world or regarding the launch date. However, it does confirm that OnePlus is indeed working on its first AR glasses, which are likely to go official, possibly by the end of 2023.
