OnePlus 15 India Launch Highlights: OnePlus 15 with Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 Elite and triple 50MP cameras launched, prices start at Rs 72,999

The OnePlus 15 will be available for purchase in India starting November 13 at 8 PM IST. The base model of the phone that comes with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage is priced at Rs 72,999, while the 16GB RAM and 512GB storage variant can be purchased for Rs 75,999.

For a limited time, OnePlus is also giving away a pair of OnePlus Nord Buds 3 for free. The company is also offering a free lifetime display warranty and an upgrade bonus of up to Rs 4,000. As part of a promotional offer, OnePlus 15 buyers will also get three free months of Google AI Pro, which offers additional storage and access.

HDFC Bank cardholders are also eligible for a discount of Rs 4,000 on both OnePlus 15 variants, bringing the price down to Rs 68,999 and Rs 75,999, respectively.

OnePlus says its new flagship can record videos in 4K at 120fps, something many modern smartphones still miss out on. While this may not be useful for the everyday user, it is quite handy when you want to record memories in the highest possible quality without sacrificing frame rates.

The OnePlus 15 sports a triple camera setup that consists of a 50MP primary camera in addition to a 50MP ultrawide lens and another 50MP telephoto shooter with 3.5x optical zoom. The company also introduced an Ultra Clear Mode and unveiled its in-house developed DetailMax image engine. On the front, you get a 32MP selfie shooter.

OxygenOS 16's new AI Call Assistant feature can now automatically translate the language of a person on a call into your preferred language and do the same for the person on the other side. This means even if you do not have a common language to talk in, the AI will do the work for you.

OxygenOS 16 on the OnePlus 15 now comes with Google Gemini integration, which means the AI chatbot can easily go through all your screenshots and notes stored in OnePlus' Mind Space app. Also, Gemini can refer to information stored in Mind Space and save it to OnePlus Notes.

OnePlus 15 will be powered by OxygenOS 16, the company's newest Android skin based on Android 16. Apart from a redesigned and much smoother user interface, the update will also bring enhancements to multitasking and a Car Sick Mode, which helps prevent Motion Sickness. OxygenOS 16 also groups all available AI features under a new section called OnePlus AI in the Settings app.

The new 6.78-inch LTPO AMOLED screen with 1.5K resolution and 165Hz refresh rate can go up to 1,800 in high brightness mode, but the company recently revealed that it can go as low as 0.5 nits with the 'Reduce White Point' toggle enabled in display settings.

Powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, the OnePlus 15 is the first phone in India to feature Qualcomm's latest and fastest chipset to date. To give you a quick recap, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 uses an octa-core setup featuring two prime cores clocked at up to 4.6GHz and six performance cores reaching 3.62GHz. Built on TSMC’s 3nm process, the chipset incorporates Qualcomm’s third-generation Oryon CPU, which the company claims delivers 20 per cent better performance and 35 per cent improved power efficiency.

OnePlus has announced that the OnePlus 15 comes with an IP69K rating in addition to the standard IP68 rating found on most flagship phones. The IP69K rating means that the phone can easily withstand cold as well as hot high-pressure water jets from any direction. It can be fully submerged underwater up to 2 metres for 30 minutes.

Compared to the OnePlus 13, the OnePlus 15 not only switches to a flat display but also introduces a redesigned, squarish camera island and the new Plus button that debuted on the OnePlus 13s. The upcoming flagship will also be equipped with the faster Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset and a larger 7,300mAh battery.

While the OnePlus 13 comes with a 50MP telephoto camera offering 3x optical zoom, the OnePlus 15 upgrades this to a more advanced 50MP telephoto sensor with 3.2x optical zoom. However, the OnePlus 15’s 1.5K display may appear slightly less sharp than the 2K screen on the OnePlus 13.

The OnePlus 12 and OnePlus 13 featured curved displays, but with the OnePlus 15, the company appears to be switching back to a flat panel. While curved screens offer a more premium and immersive feel, flat displays are generally more durable and support cheaper, easier-to-apply screen protectors.

On the hardware front, the OnePlus 15 is said to feature a 6.78-inch LTPO AMOLED display with a 165Hz refresh rate and 1.5K resolution. OnePlus claims it can reach up to 1,800 nits in high-brightness mode and can dim all the way down to 1 nit at night.

Talking of AI, OxygenOS 16 on OnePlus 15 will bring several new AI features, all of which can be quick found under the new "OnePlus AI" section in the Settings app. The update brings several new AI tools, including the AI Writer toolkit, which can work across apps multiple to generate text, mind maps, captions, emails and even charts.

OnePlus 15 will also have an upgraded camera app that can scan documents and presentations and instantly convert images into PDFs. The Recorder app adds real-time transcription, summaries, shareable file links and improved noise reduction. OxygenOS 16 is also getting a system-wide AI-powered search that responds to natural language queries. All AI features are now grouped under a dedicated OnePlus AI section for easier access.

OxygenOS 16, OnePlus' newest Android skin based on Android 16 features a redesigned user interface that seems to have taken inspiration from iOS 26's Liquid Glass. This is most noticeable in the home screen, recents menu and the widget picker.

OnePlus also introduced an iOS like category section in the app drawer, which automatically sorts apps into different categories. The update also features a redesigned Photos app, which now has a translucent floating bottom bar like the one on new iPhones.

OnePlus has confirmed that the OnePlus 15 will pack a 7,300mAh silicon-carbon battery - the largest ever used in a OnePlus device. The phone will also support 120W wired charging and 50W wireless charging. The company has also included bypass charging support and claims that the OnePlus 15's battery will retain 80 per cent of its capacity even after four years.

For the past few years, OnePlus' flagship phones have featured a large circular camera island that became a signature design element. But with the OnePlus 15, the company is switching to a squircle-shaped module, similar to the one seen on the OnePlus 13s. Another major change is the introduction of the new DetailMax image engine, which also marks the end of OnePlus’ long-running partnership with Hasselblad.
