Apple is currently working on a revamped version of its flagship iPad Pro. According to a report from Bloomberg, the next-generation iPad Pro is said to include some major upgrades, such as an OLED screen, an M3 processor, and an upgraded camera unit.

The upcoming iPad Pros, codenamed J717, J718, J720, and J721, will be powered by the latest M3 processor. These will be the first set of iPads from Apple to feature an OLED screen, a technology that has been present in iPhones since 2017.

Apple’s M3 processor is expected to debut by the end of 2023. The company is speculated to announce the next-generation Macs with the M3, fabricated using TSMC’s 3nm process, a few weeks after the iPhone event. Compared to the M2 chip, the M3 is said to offer more power and improved power efficiency.

Unlike the current mini LED screens on the iPad Pro, the new OLED screens will help iPads produce accurate colours with enhanced contrast, along with higher brightness levels. While the base model of the iPad Pro will remain at 11 inches, the larger variant will feature a slightly bigger 13-inch screen in comparison to the current 12.9-inch iPad Pro, which is the largest tablet Apple has ever produced.

These new iPads are also expected to receive a revamped Magic Keyboard, which will fully transform the iPads into laptops with an even larger trackpad. It has also been reported that the new iPad Pro models will boost iPad sales. However, they are expected to be officially announced in the first half of 2024.

With this lineup, Apple will be competing against the recently announced Galaxy Tab S9 series, powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC. This series is also the first set of tablets with an official IP68 rating for water and dust resistance.
