Popular streaming platform Netflix has announced a slew of features to offer greater customisations with subtitles. The new features will let users personalize the appearance of subtitles on the platform. Users will be able to modify the style and size of the text and toggle between small, medium and large font sizes.

Moreover, Netflix has also introduced three new style options for subtitles with contrasting backgrounds. These options include Light (black text against white background), Contrast (yellow text on black background), and Drop shadow (white text on black background). According to the company, the latest features will enhance readability for users.

Earlier, the features were available for web users, however, the customisation feature is now available worldwide including for TV users. Netflix has witnessed a steady rise in the number of its TV viewers. In 2018, the company said that it had recorded 70 per cent of viewers from TV.

The latest feature will come with accessibility benefits as now viewers with hearing impairments and auditory processing disorders will be able to customise their viewing experience. The company has said that enhancing the text of subtitles and closed captions will likely improve the focus of those viewers with cognitive disorders.
