Popular video-streaming service Netflix recently announced that it will soon drop support for a bunch of older iPhones and iPads that are running on iOS 16 and iPadOS 16.

When Apple users updated Netflix to the latest version on their older iPhones and iPads, they were greeted with a message that says “We’ve updated the Netflix app! To use the latest version, install iOS17 or later.”

Netflix users stuck on iOS 16 can ignore the warning and keep using the app for now, but they won’t receive any bug fixes, new features or security updates. At some point in the future, the app will eventually stop working, but neither Apple nor Netflix has clarified when that will happen.

Which Apple devices are affected by this?

Apple had previously stated that some devices won’t be getting the iOS 17 update because of hardware limitations. The list of devices that are still running iOS 16 include the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, iPhone X, iPad 5th Gen and the iPad Pro 1st Gen.

To give you a quick recap, the iPhone X was launched back in 2017 and was declared as a vintage product by Apple a few months back, meaning the company will no longer offer any technical assistance or repairs.
