Namma Yatri, the open-mobility app for auto rickshaws, has now launched cab services in Bengaluru. The app operates on the ONDC (Open Network for Digital Commerce) network and has a commission-free model where it charges drivers a subscription fee instead of collecting a per cent of revenue from rides.

“I am proud to inaugurate this milestone event for Namma Yatri, Karnataka’s own homegrown app. Their community-centric approach and pioneering efforts in driver welfare set a commendable precedent. I applaud their commitment to innovation, transparency, and inclusivity, and wish them success with the cab service launch,” said Ramalinga Reddy, Minister of Transport and Muzrai, Govt. of Karnataka, in a press statement.

Namma Yatri said it already has 25,000 cab drivers on board and plans to add another one lakh in the next six months. It already offers cab services in Kochi and Kolkata. In Kochi, it operates both cab and auto services and it has a combined customer base of 3.3 lakhs with over 10,000 cab and auto drivers on board. The company says drivers earned Rs 11 crore using the app since it launched in November 2022.

It has more than 18 lakh registered users in the capital of West Bengal, where it only operates cab services, and claims over 40,000 drivers have earned Rs 61 crore till date. 23 lakh trips have been completed on the app since it launched in the city in July last year.

“Namma Yatri isn’t merely an app; it represents a transformative approach to addressing mobility challenges on a large scale. We are dedicated to empowering drivers through cutting-edge technology at an optimal cost, fostering satisfaction among both drivers and commuters. We have received strong support from the cab driver community. Our driver wellness programs, initiatives for safety and sakkath-service are adapted for the cab driver community. Ensuring driver satisfaction translates directly into providing the best service to valued customers,” said Magizhan Selvan, Chief Executive Officer at Namma Yatri.
