Discord, the go-to voice, video and chat platform used by more than 150 million users every month often adds features that makes it easier to use the app. Now, Discord is getting a new update that introduces a redesigned user interface, reworks the search bar, improves the loading time and several other aspects.
The developers also seem to have reduced the loading time, claiming that Discord will open 55 per cent and 43 per cent faster on Android and iOS respectively.
Discord has redesigned the way chats are organised in the app and separated ‘Servers’ and DMs into different tabs. However, the vertical server navigation users are familiar with remains the same.
The developers have changed the navigation tabs that appear at the bottom of the phone. The bottom bar now lets you easily toggle between the Servers, Messages, Notifications and You section.
The latest update also clubs Direct Messages (DMs) and Group Direct Messages (GDMs) in the ‘Messages’ tab. It also allows users to favourite conversations in the app, which pins them to the top of the tab. As for direct messages in groups, long pressing on a message will open a quick reply option. Moreover, you can also swipe a message to reply to any message in the chat window.
Discord has made searching for messages easier on the mobile app, with users now able to search for messages, pins, attachments and files from the search bar itself.
The Notifications tab now lets you check @mentioned, and get server event and friend request updates. Also, every notification is now clickable and tapping on it will directly take you to the chat window. Once you tap on a notification, it will be marked as read and automatically cleared.
The You tab now lets you quickly change your profile, status, upload a new profile picture, navigate friends list and modify account settings. You can also double-click the You tab to quickly open settings and search for a particular feature using the search bar.
In addition to the aforementioned features, the new Discord mobile app brings some additional improvements like an updated night mode, better media sharing and viewing options, revamped voice and video call interface.
