Itel, the brand known for its phones in the sub-Rs 10K segment, has now officially broken through that mark. The China-based company has launched two new smartphones that offer some cool features that are hard to find in their respective segments.

The first is the Itel S23+ smartphone, which perhaps for the first time in India, brings a curved AMOLED display to the sub-Rs 15,000 segment, while the second is the Itel P55 Power 5G that promises to bring about the “5G revolution” to the country with its affordable Rs 9,699 price tag. Let’s take a look.

Itel S23+

The Itel S23+ is all about styling with its slim and light build and curved 6.78-inch AMOLED FHD+ display (which, by the way, is protected by Gorilla Glass 5). But it’s also got other cool features – an in-display fingerprint scanner and NFC support. At the moment, the Itel S23+ is perhaps the only phone offering the combination of these features at this price point. But it doesn’t end there. The base variant of the phone features a 256GB ROM, which again is a rarity at this price point.

How did Itel pull it off? Well, it probably has something to do with the fact that the phone is powered by a Unisoc T606 chipset, which lacks 5G and isn’t exactly the fastest in this segment.

Other features include a 32MP selfie camera, a 50MP rear camera, and a 5,000mAh battery with 18W charging. Itel also offers a 2-year warranty and a one-time free screen replacement for your peace of mind.

The Itel S23+ starts at Rs 13,999 and will be available on Amazon in the first week of October, followed by retail in the last week of the same month.

Itel Power P55 5G

The other model is clearly not built for performance, but if that’s important to you, the Itel Power P55 5G comes with the Dimensity 6080 5G chipset for a starting price of just Rs 9,699, making it the most affordable 5G smartphone in India right now. The D6080 is roughly equivalent to the Snapdragon 695 in terms of performance – a chip that’s seen in phones that cost anywhere between Rs 17K to Rs 30K – so its appearance in the sub-Rs 10K segment comes as a surprise.

This phone comes with more humble display specs including a 6.6-inch HD+ display with a water drop notch and a 90Hz refresh rate. The battery is sized 5,000mAh with support for 18W charging and the fingerprint sensor is moved to the side, mated with the power button.

Again, Itel is offering a 2-year warranty and a one-time free screen replacement, just in case you drop the phone or something.

The Itel Power P55 5G comes in two variants: 4GB+64GB and 6GB+128GB. The former is available in offline stores for Rs 9,699, while the latter is an Amazon exclusive for Rs 9,999.
