All variants of the iPhone 15 are reported to receive USB Type-C treatment. However, Ming-Chi Kuo reports that only the Pro models will have a faster USB 3.2 data transfer rate while the same will be limited to just USB 2.0 standard on the iPhone 15 and the iPhone 15 Plus.

Dynamic Island with ultra-thin bezels

Just like the iPhone 14 Pro series, all four variants of the iPhone 15 will feature a modern display with a capsule-shaped cutout. The iPhone 15 Pro series will make use of the new LIPO display tech to further reduce the size of the bezels to 1.5mm, suggests a report from Bloomberg.

Apple's flagship iPhone 15 Pro and the iPhone 15 Pro Max will use the new A17 Bionic, a 3nm chip fabbed by TSMC, suggests a report from DigiTimes. Similarly, the iPhone 15 and the 15 Plus will use the previous generation A16 Bionic, which currently powers the iPhone 14 Pro series.

For the first time, Apple will include 8 GB of RAM on the iPhone 15 Pro series, suggests a Taiwanese research firm TrendForce while the iPhone 15 and the iPhone 15 Plus will continue to offer 6 GB of RAM, and the base variants of the all four iPhone 15 models are likely to offer 128 GB of internal storage.

Periscope telephoto zoom lens

The high-end iPhone models are likely to get a high-resolution 48 MP wide-angle camera. In fact, the Phone 15 Pro Max will be the first iPhone to include a periscope zoom lens with 5/6x optical zoom lens.

Repair-friendly design

Apple introduced a new repair-friendly design with the iPhone 14 and the iPhone 14 Plus. As per Bloomberg, the same design language will be expanded to all four variants of the iPhone 15 series, making it easier to swap the back panel, battery, and display.

The more expensive iPhone 15 Pro and the 15 Pro Max are reported to gain Wi-Fi 6E capabilities, thanks to the new and improved network modem by Qualcomm. The entry-level iPhone 15 and the iPhone 15 Plus will be limited to Wi-Fi, as they are based on the same network chip as the iPhone 14 Pro.

Apple is said to include a new and more efficient ultra-wideband chip, which will be used for better ecosystem integration. The new chip is said to aid Apple to deliver enhanced compatibility between the company's first VR headset Vision Pro, suggests Ming-Chi Kuo.

LiDAR has been a part of the iPhone Pro series since the iPhone 12 lineup and with the iPhone 15 Pro, the new and improved sensor from Sony is said to enhance 3D depth mapping, resulting in better portrait shots and AR app experience.

We’re mere weeks away from September, the time best-known for the debut of the new iPhone. Traditionally, Apple has hosted its flagship event every September, during which it reveals the new iPhone lineup as well as other must-have gadgets for the holiday season.
