Apple introduced Live Activities with iOS 16 last year. (Express Photo) Last year, Apple introduced a new feature called ‘Live Activities’ that can show useful information on the lock screen or Dynamic Island. The latest app to take advantage of the feature is Instagram, which will soon start showing story upload progress in the background.
According to a recent report by 9to5Mac, Instagram now shows how much your photos or videos are uploaded when you close the app. Introduced with iOS 16.1, Live Activities displays information in a dynamic notification.
This is really useful since users will no longer require to open the app to check if their stories, photos or videos have been uploaded or not. Apart from this, you will also be able to see a small preview of the content that is being currently uploaded.
As it turns out, Instagram is yet to officially announce support for Live Activities and it looks like the feature is currently limited to a handful of users.
Earlier this year, Uber added support for Live Activities, allowing users to see the estimated time of arrival for cabs. Some sports apps also display game scores in real-time on the lock screen itself. Apple is also planning to bring Live Activities to iPad with the upcoming iPadOS 17.
