With the addition of these two colours, Devialet Mania buyers get treated to five different colour options. (Image: Devialet) French luxury audio company Devialet has jazzed up the Devialet Mania with a couple of new new ‘seasonal’ colours. This quirky gadget, which resembles anything from an ethereal orb to a chic clutch bag depending on the person who sees it, is actually a portable smart speaker that blasts out immersive 360° sound.
The first colour is called Sunset Rose and features a light hue of pink, while the second is called Sandstrom. Devialet explains the inspiration behind these colours: “The subtle hue of Sunset Rose is inspired by the energy transition felt at the end of the day as the sky changes colours, while Sandstorm is an ode to the untamed beauty of mineral landscapes, where time feels suspended and imagination runs wild.”

Each seasonal colour has a dedicated musical playlist that reflects the “poetry of the colours of sound.” Sunset Rose gets a playlist called Pink Noise while Sandstorm gets a playlist called Brownian Noise.
But the most striking feature of the speakers is its design, which is basically a sphere topped with a luxurious woven skin – and with no front or back. The parts where there’s no woven finish are two woofers facing two opposite directions. On top of the Mania, four full-range speakers point in different directions, creating a sound that adapts to any room. The device also has a handy handle that tempts you to grab it and take it with you wherever you go.
Design aside, the Devialet Mania features four microphones in the device as well as an accelerometer. The microphones help the speaker detect when it’s next to a wall while the accelerometer detects when it’s moved to a new location. This info helps the device adjust its sound output accordingly.
The Devialet Mania works with Devialet’s own app and supports both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. It is priced at Rs 1,02,000 and can also be picked up from the company’s newly opened store – Devialet, by The Den, Mumbai.
