On Monday, at the “It’s Glowtime” launch event, Apple introduced a new colour variant of the Watch Ultra 2 – Satin Black. The company also introduced a new titanium Milanese loop along with a new Hermes band, featuring a titanium buckle. The new Watch Ultra 2 (review) still costs $799 and will be available for pre-order starting today and will go on sale from September 20.
For the first time, Apple is offering its Ultra smartwatch in two new colour options, both made out of grade 5 titanium. It is still the only smartwatch from Apple with an Action button, which also includes a speaker with playback support.
The new Apple Watch Ultra 2 is made using 95 per cent recycled grade 5 titanium and is equipped with a 1.9-inch OLED screen, which gets as bright as 3000 nits. Unlike the Apple Watch Series 10, which gets the new S10 system-in-package (SiP), the Watch Ultra 2 is still powered by the S9 SiP, but it does gain new capabilities such as Sleep apnea detection, custom swim workouts, training load, and it also gets the new Tides app, and the new variant of the Watch Ultra 2 will ship with watchOS 11. The new offline navigation capability, powered by Apple Maps will continue to work even when your iPhone is switched off.
Just like the original Watch Ultra 2, the new variant can still deliver 36 hours of battery life in regular mode or up to 72 hours of battery life in low-power mode, the highest-ever battery life on an Apple Watch.
