100+ emojis

Apple added more than 100 new emojis to the first beta of iOS 17.4. This includes a phoenix emoji, a slice of lime and heads shaking up and down or left and right. Keep in mind that some of these emojis were announced last year and are already available on some Android devices.

New digital clock widget

Apple iOS 17.4 beta 2 added a digital clock app widget. Named ‘City Digital’, the new widget shows the time along with a static location. It is really useful if you travelling somewhere far away and want to see the time in your home city.

Detailed battery health information

Available on the iPhone 15 series, the Battery Health section in the Settings app on iOS 17.4 is all set to show more information about your phone battery. Tapping on your battery health will now show details like the cycle count, and maximum capacity. This is a huge upgrade compared to the previous version, which only show how much percentage the battery health is at.

More Stolen Device Protection options

The recently introduced Stolen Device Protection feature is also getting a bunch of new options that enhance the overall security of the device. Users will be able to choose if they want to use biometric authentication to be able to modify certain settings or choose to delay the functionality when they are away from a familiar location like work or home.

Starting with iOS 17.4, users might also need to enter both their passcode and biometric ID to remove an Apple account from a device.
