A few months ago, Apple unveiled the iPad Pro with M4, the company’s latest and most powerful chip to date. While nothing is official at the moment, a recent report hinted that the tech giant will launch new Macs with M4 chipset sometime later this year.
Now, a new report by known Apple analyst Mark Gurman suggests that the Cupertino based company is testing four new Macs. Rumours also have it that while Apple won’t be making any notable changes to the look and feel, the new laptops will have the vanilla M4 chips.
Citing developer logs, Gurman claims that three of these Macs will pack a 10-core CPU paired with a 10-core GPU while the fourth device will have an 8-core CPU backed by an 8-core GPU, a configuration that currently does not exist on the M4 chip.
Also, there is currently no information about M4 Pro and M4 Max, which hints that the tech giant may introduce high end variants of the MacBook Pro Sometime next year. As for the Mac Mini, rumour has it that the tech giant is working on a slimmer Mac mini available with both M4 and M4 Pro chip.
Apple is also touted to pack a huge upgrade to the upcoming Mac machines. Instead of 8GB RAM on the base variant of these devices, the new devices will reportedly have at least 16GB or 32GB RAM. This could be because of the huge memory requirements for on-device AI tasks.
