Amazon’s Prime Day 2023, which lasted from July 15 through July 16, was the company’s biggest shopping event ever, witnessing unprecedented levels of participation, with 14% more Prime members shopping compared to Prime Day 2022. One of the many new achievements was the peak of 22,190 orders placed by Prime members in a single minute, which was the highest ever.

Among the thousands of product categories, smartphones sold in massive volumes. According to Amazon’s numbers, 5 smartphones were sold every second with 70% of the demand coming from Tier 2 & 3 cities. Newly launched smartphones like the OnePlus Nord 3 5G, Samsung Galaxy M34 5G, Motorola Razr 40 Series, Realme Narzo 60 Series, and iQOO Neo 7 Pro 5G received an overwhelming response from Prime members. The Samsung Galaxy M34 5G emerged as the no. 1 selling smartphone among the new launches.

But the top-selling brands during Prime Day 2023 were boAt, Sony, LG, Samsung, Philips, Wipro, OnePlus, LEGO, Maybelline, Puma, SUGAR Cosmetics, and Pampers.

To cater to the overwhelming demand, Amazon offered hundreds of thousands of deals across their vast selection, including a staggering 45,000+ new product launches from over 400+ top Indian and global brands. Notably, Small and Medium Businesses (SMBs) also had a reason to celebrate, with 2,000+ new product launches garnering attention from shoppers.

One of the core aspects of Prime Day is the exclusive benefits it offers to Prime members, and this year was no different. Thousands of sellers, brands, and bank partners collaborated to help Prime members save a staggering sum of over Rs 300 crores.

The speedy delivery service was a hit among Prime members, as evidenced by the highest number of same-day deliveries during Prime Day 2023 compared to any previous Prime Day event. 1 in 3 orders placed from metros were delivered on the same day, and 1 in 2 orders across most Tier 1 & 2 cities were delivered within a span of just two days.

The entertainment quotient also soared during the event, thanks to the lineup of Prime Video’s originals, movies, and shows launched as part of Prime Day. Prime members from 4,490 cities and towns streamed these special Prime Day releases in India. 30 TVs were sold every minute with premium 4K QLED and OLED variants seeing the highest demand.

Fashion and Beauty products sold like hotcakes, with Prime members ordering a new pair of shoes every 0.4 seconds and purchasing a handbag every 1.6 seconds. The category witnessed deals across top brands like Marks & Spencer, Tommy Hilfiger, Ray-Ban, Biba, and Levi’s, presenting customers with a range of options. For kids, toys recorded the highest-ever single-day sales, selling an average of 1.8 units every second.

Amazon Business, the platform catering to business buyers, recorded an impressive 56% sales growth compared to Prime Day 2022. Electronics, office furniture, and kitchen products and appliances saw significant growth, indicating the increasing adoption of the platform by businesses.

During Prime Day 2023, several other categories also made a remarkable impact. The large Appliances category experienced a frenzy, with an appliance sold every two seconds. Premium Electronics, particularly premium audio brands like Sony, Bose, and JBL, saw a spike in sales, with one Noise Cancelling Headphone sold every 20 seconds.

Amazon Fresh, the grocery delivery service, also had a successful run, with more than 1 lakh litres of cooking oil, 7,000 kgs of tomatoes, and 23,000 kgs of sugar sold. The platform saw over 600 brands achieving at least a 2x growth during Prime Day.

Finally, Alexa was a big help during the sale, with nearly 10 lakh customers asking the voice assistant to search for their favourite products during Prime Day.
