Instagram has started to roll out its live-streaming features to iOS and Android smartphone users.
Instagram has started to roll out its live-streaming feature to iOS and Android smartphone users, the company said on Monday. In November, Instagram introduced a live video feature to select users. Now, the feature has gone live for everyone in the US.
According to Instagram, Live video “will be rolling out globally over the next few weeks”.
A live video feature resides within the Stories section of the app. These videos will be gone within 24 hours of uploading them. You can view live stories and even comment on them, similar to Facebook. However, there’s a major difference. With Facebook, live videos are saved in a feed and can be watched again anytime.
To broadcast live, all you need to do is swipe right from the feed to open the camera, then tap ‘Start Live Video’ and start sharing. The video can be streamed for an hour. While live, you can even make a comment for everyone to see or else turn off comments. You can even check out live stories on Explore. Just tab “Top live”, which will let you know the most popular videos happening at that moment.

Lately, several social media platforms have started to introduce live video feature. Twitter has its Periscope app, Facebook has its Live options and now Instagram – which is owned by Facebook has added a live video feature.
Instagram’s new feature seems to be a pretty big deal. It also shows the social media as a whole is slowly and gradually moving to embrace live stream and real-time videos
