The accelerator was launched by AWS at an event attended by Sudheer Kumar N, Director, Capacity Building and Public Outreach, ISRO. (AWS India)Amazon Web Services (AWS) India today announced its inaugural AWS Space Accelerator, aiming to give technical and business mentorship and to accelerate Indian startups focused on space technology.
This is AWS’s first accelerator program focused on space sector startups, and it comes after the company signed a memorandum of understanding with the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and IN-SPACe, a nodal agency under the Department of Space.
The AWS Space Accelerator is a 14-week accelerator program that the company says will give business resources, expertise and guidance around technological and business capabilities and will help them use AWS services to build, grow and scale their mission. It is open to both early-stage and mature startups in India that are supporting the space sector. Interested startups can register at this link: programs.t-hub.co/aws-space-accelerator-india/
The space technology industry is unique to the fact that it both requires large capital investments while also being a high-risk environment. The AWS Space Accelerator will work to help startups build and test their technologies using AWS before investing in capital. This could potentially allow these startups to experiment with lower costs.
