Xiaomi yesterday unveiled two new foldable smartphones at an event in China. While the clamshell-style foldable - Mix Fold brings a lot of improvements over its predecessor, the Mix Flip is the company's first-ever flip-style device. Powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, the most powerful mobile chipset right now, the Mix Flip has a huge 4.01-inch AMOLED cover screen and a 6.86-inch 120Hz LTPO AMOLED screen on the inside. Both screens have a 1.5K resolution and offer 3,000 nits of peak brightness. The company said that the outer display has been designed in such a way that it is highly functional and will allow users to make phone calls and do other things without opening the phone. It added that over 200 popular mobile apps can run without issues on the cover screen thanks to optimisations in HyperOS. Similar to Samsung's flip phones, you get a time, step count music control, weather and a bunch of other widgets for the cover screen. Moreover, taxi, food delivery and apps notifying about flights and trains will automatically switch to focus on the cover screen and even more real-time updated information. On the back, you get a 50MP Light Fusion 800 main sensor alongside another 50MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom, both tuned by Leica Summilux. It also happens to be one of the few flip phones with a huge battery. The Mix Flip packs a surprisingly big 4,780mAh battery with Xiaomi claiming that it can maintain up to 80 per cent capacity even after 1,600 cycles and has a maximum charging speed of 67W. Running on HyperOS based on Android 14 out of the box, the phone has a side-mounted fingerprint scanner and a 32MP selfie shooter. It comes with up to 16GB RAM and 1TB storage. Available in four colourways - black, white, purple and Xiaomi nylon fiber edition, the base variant of the Mix Flip is priced at 5999 yuan, which roughly translates to Rs 69,000. It will go on sale in china from July 23, but we still no word if the company plans to launch it in India.
