With these phones, especially the vivo V40 Pro, the company has introduced new Zeiss-tuned software features such as multi-focal portrait, which enables users to take portrait shots from different focal lengths such as 24mm, 35mm, 50mm, 85mm, and 100mm. Similarly, vivo has also introduced seven Zeiss-style bokeh effects – cine-flare, cinematic, planar, biotar, distagon, sonnar, and b-speed. Depending on the bokeh style, the background of the image changes drastically.

These phones also have an India-specific feature called festival portrait, where the V40 and the V40 Pro can capture standout portraits with customised colour tones that match India’s festivals. These phones also come with Zeiss focus transition and Zeiss cinematic bokeh video modes. All cameras on the V40 series can capture 4K resolution videos, including the selfie shooters.

Out of the box, they ship with Android 14-based FunTouchOS 14 skin on top. Both phones pack a large 5,500 mAh battery with support for 80W fast charging and reverse charging.
