Samsung One UI 8.5 beta update: Expected rollout date, new features and supported devices

Samsung had reportedly planned to kick off the One UI 8.5 beta program for the Galaxy S25 series sometime this month, but now a new leak claims the update may start rolling out next month. According to a recent post by the well-known tipster Tarun Vats on X (formerly Twitter), Samsung will roll out the One UI 8.5 beta in phases, with the first phase expected to start on December 8.

The second phase, which will bring the much-anticipated update in India and Poland, is expected to start on December 22. A new One UI 8.5 beta build for the Galaxy S25 series was also recently spotted on the tech giant’s test servers. To give you a quick recap, Samsung is expected to unveil the public version of One UI 8.5 next year alongside the Galaxy S26 series.

One UI 8.5 is expected to bring tons of new features, like new Pro camera presets that users can share with others, a Network Battery Saver that limits network activity to boost standby time, and Priority Notifications. Samsung might also move the search bar in most first-party apps to the bottom for easier access.

Talking of visual changes, Samsung seems to have introduced 3D icons for apps, while the lockscreen now has three new clock styles. However, the biggest change Samsung is reportedly bringing with the update is a revamped quick settings panel, which will allow users to rearrange individual settings and give them more flexibility.

One UI 8.5 is expected to roll out for all devices were eligible for One UI 8, which, if true, will mean that every Galaxy S series device launched in 2022 or later and mid-range phones launched in 2023 or later will be getting the update.
