The refreshed Galaxy S21 FE might look the same. (Express Photo) Samsung has confirmed that the Snapdragon variant of its popular fan-favourite device – Galaxy S21 FE (review) will be coming to India this month. While the South Korean tech giant is yet to reveal the launch date, we expect it to launch alongside the upcoming Galaxy Fold 5 and Galaxy Flip 5.
As for the internals, the refreshed Galaxy S21 FE will sport the infamous Snapdragon 888 chipset with Samsung doubling the storage of the base variant from 128GB to 256GB. The Galaxy S21 FE was launched in India last year and instead of a Snapdragon chipset, featured Samsung’s in-house developed Exynos 2100.
The Galaxy S21 FE Exynos edition comes with a 6.4-inch 120Hz HDR10+ AMOLED screen with Gorilla Glass Victus protection. It has a plastic back and an aluminium frame and comes with a triple camera setup that consists of a 12MP primary sensor backed by an 8MP telephoto lens and a 12MP ultrawide camera. On the front, you get a 32MP selfie camera that can record videos in 4K at 60fps.
The phone runs on Android 12 out of the box with Samsung promising 4 years of OS updates and 5 years of security updates, which means it will be updated to Android 16. Samsung is yet to verify if the Snapdragon version will come with Android 12 like the Exynos variant. The Galaxy S21 FE has a 4,500mAh battery with support for 25W wired charging and 15W wireless charging.
In terms of benchmark, the Snapdragon 888 is a bit faster than the Exynos 2100 in CPU performance, battery life and gaming, but it remains to be seen how Samsung manages to keep it cool. Rumour has it that the refreshed Galaxy S21 FE will cost somewhere around Rs 50,000.
